Kelly

Hi my name is Kelly and I teach here at BreanSplash. My Dad introduced me to water at a very young age and I have been a water baby ever since. I love swimming myself and have competed at County Level and also for the Royal Navy.

I believe that swimming is one of the best skills you can give to a child, it is the only sport that could save your life and that of others. I sit on the Somerset ASA Committee and I have the pleasure of being the current Somerset ASA President.

I also organise and run Somerset County Swimming Championships and Developmental galas as well as being the Burnham-on-Sea Swimming Club Secretary.

I started teaching in 1991 when I passed my Preliminary Teachers Award and qualified as a Level 2 Teacher in 2005. I teach absolute beginners all the way through to advanced levels and get real satisfaction from seeing weekly progress of swimmers in my lessons.

The facilities here at BreanSplash are amongst the best I have taught in and coupled with CoursePro, where you can track your swimmers' progress, the support and communication is also excellent.

He is also qualified as a Swim England Water Polo Teacher and Coach, and he has over 40 years’ experience of teaching and coaching aquatics at all levels, up to internationally. A Life Member of Weston-super-Mare Swimming Club, and the Chief Coach of Water Polo within the club.

He has been President of both Somerset County ASA and Swim England South West Region, and is also secretary for water polo of both Somerset County and Swim England South West Region, and is also Match Secretary of the Bristol & West Water Polo League.

Over the years he has attended many Swim England CPD courses for aquatics. His main aim is to ensure everyone learns to swim, from youngsters and adults. No one is too old to learn to swim or improve their skills.

Dawn

Hi my name is Dawn, I have been a swim teacher for 17 years!

I qualified as a Level 2 swimming teacher in 2004 and have been teaching at Brean Splash since 2012. I specialise in Parent and Baby classes and currently teach those on a Wednesday morning here at Brean Splash.

I also teach ducklings through to stage 7 with our young swimmers and teach adults to improve their stroke. I was inspired to be a swim teacher as I like to see children learn their own life saving skills. I have gathered a wide range of knowledge and experience teaching at other local leisure centres.

On top of my swim teaching, I have also got 15 years’ worth of lifeguarding experience.

Outside of swim teaching I’m a Mini enthusiast and also run a business cleaning hot-tubs. I also love to shop!

Luc

Hello, I'm Luc, a guy from France who loves swimming. I grew up in France and fell in love with swimming because I swam in nature. I've been teaching here at Brean Splash for 2 years. I really enjoy seeing the happiness on the swimmers faces after their lessons, and watching them progress, succeed and grow in confidence.

My main gold is that the swimmers gain confidence lesson after lesson.

I am also a 'Mov-Nat' natural movement teacher which I incorporate into my lesson by teaching techniques thoroughly.

Teaching at Brean Splash, with a great team is amazing and entertaining. It doesn't feel like work, I am truly privileged to work with such a great team.

Brandon

Hi, I’m Brandon, I teach swimming for Brean Swim School.

I had always liked the idea of becoming a swimming teacher, having swum for Burnham Swimming club for many years.

I started off as a volunteer teacher for Burnham Swimming Club and was thrilled when I was offered a position at Brean Swim School. I have been teaching for a few years now and always enjoy getting positive feedback from parents and swimmers!

Not only am I a swimming teacher, but I am also a lifeguard for Brean Splash, which was something I wanted to do for years after completing my Rookie Lifeguarding when I was younger. My aim as a teacher is to give young people more confidence in the water and promote water safety.
